Japan LDP’s Kishida urges coronavirus stimulus package

An economic stimulus package worth "tens of trillions of yen" was needed to combat the coronavirus pandemic, the Japanese ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Policy Chief Fumio Kishida said in a statement on Thursday.

Additional comments

“Revision of legislation to curb people's movement should be looked into, although strong lockdown measures implemented in some other countries not suitable to Japan.”

“Must compile extra budget to fund economic package, seeking sources of funding from JGB issuance needs to be considered.“

“Must pay heed to social inequality through the distribution of wealth.”

“Economic growth is important but that alone won't resolve economic problems and public finances.“

“Japan must show the world and markets those public finances remain on firm footing, present the future direction of fiscal policy to gain market confidence.”
