BOJ has trimmed its purchases of JBS maturing in 3-5 and 10-25 years

The Bank of Japan (BOJ) on Wednesday reduced its purchases of Japanese government bonds (JGBs) maturing in 3-5 years to JPY 380 billion, down from the previous purcahse of JPY 400 billion. The central bank also trimmed purcahses of bonds maturing in 10-25 years by JPY 20 billion to JPY 180 billion.

Meanwhile, it raised the purcahses at the short end of the curve – JGBs maturing in 1-3 years – by JPY 50 billion to JPY 350 billion.

The changes in the amount of bonds purchased at both the short and the long end of the curve is part of routine operations and does not amount to changes in the QE program.
