European parliament says it cannot approve Brexit without Irish border backstop

The European Parliament called for unity on Brexit in the UK's House of Commons while releasing the steering group statement that:

• Calls on the UK government to work intensively with all political parties in the House of Commons to overcome Brexit deadlock.
• Repeatedly pointed out that the European Parliament cannot give its consent to Brexit withdrawal agreement without Irish backstop.
