NSIER: A no deal Brexit seen shaving 1.6 points off UK growth in 2019

Bloomberg reports further headlines from the UK's National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR), citing that the UK economy risks expanding only 0.3% in 2019 if it leaves the European Union (EU) without a Brexit deal.

Key Highlights:

A no-deal Brexit would mean a difference of 1.6 percentage points to UK growth next year.

By contrast, a trade accord that preserves most of the current arrangements would mean the economy will grow 1.9 percent next year, more than the think tank’s previous forecast of 1.7 percent.
