Weekend news: geopolitics post North Korea's intercontinental missile - ANZ

Analysts at ANZ explained that the weekend was dominated by geopolitical headlines after North Korea test fired its second intercontinental missile on Friday.

"Although the missile only travelled around 1,000km, initial data suggests that if it were launched toward the US, it could travel around 10,000km, enough to hit the mainland. 

The US and South Korea conducted retaliatory “tests” not long afterwards. China called for restraint, while US Secretary of State, Tillerson, labelled China and Russia “economic enablers”. 

It didn’t appear to be related (at least not directly), but Russia ordered the US to reduce the number of its diplomatic staff in the country. Things are bubbling away."
