US: House prices rose in April, up 0.7% from the previous month

"U.S. house prices rose in April, up 0.7 percent from the previous month, according to seasonally adjusted monthly House Price Index (HPI)," said the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) on Thursday.

Key highlights:

  • The previously reported 0.6 percent increase in March was revised upward to reflect a 0.7 percent increase
  • From April 2016 to April 2017, house prices were up 6.8 percent
  • For the nine census divisions, seasonally adjusted monthly price changes from March 2017 to April 2017 ranged from -0.1 percent in the East South Central division to +1.6 percent in the West South Central division
