GBP/USD slumps to 1-week low

FXstreet.com (Córdoba) - The GBP/USD resumed its fall at the beginning of the New York session and extended losses to a fresh 1-week low.

GBP/USD resumes decline and breaks below 1.6400

The GBP/USD broke through the 1.6420/00 support area, triggering stops and sliding to its lowest level in a week at 1.6360 so far. At time of writing, the Cable is trading at the 1.6365 area, recording a 0.7% loss on the day. The GBP is among the worst performers against the dollar, having erased Friday's gains despite the greenback remains weighed by weak NFP data.

GBP/USD technical levels

In terms of technical levels, if GBP/USD breaks below 1.6360, next supports are seen at 1.6337 (Jan 6 low) and 1.6300 (psychological level). On the other hand, resistances could be found at 1.6507 (Jan 13 high), 1.6516 (Jan 10 high) and 1.6532 (Dec 30 high).

AUD/USD pulls back from highs

The rally of the Australian dollar versus the greenback faltered after the AUD/USD found resistance at a 1-month high of 0.9072.
