Outlook for real interest rates lower – FOMC’s C.Evans

Charles Evans (2017 voter, dovish), President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, said on Tuesday that the outlook on real interest rates appear lower than before.

Evans also added that supervision is crucial in order to attack financial stability risks.

He argued that the balance sheet as a share of US GDP is relatively small, although he acknowledged that US debt levels are quite high.

Evans also suggested that remains very difficult to raise the Fed’s inflation target.
