New Zealand credit card transactions on the rise
FXstreet.com (Bali) - Shoppers in New Zealand continues to show solid spending on their debit and credit cards during November 2013, Statistics New Zealand said today. Electronic Card Retail Sales (YoY)(Nov)was at 6.7% vs 5.9% exp and 7.0% last, while(MoM)(Nov) saw 0.6% vs 0.4% exp and 1.4% prior.

When adjusted for seasonal effects, the value of electronic card spending in the core retail industries increased 0.3 percent. This followed a large 2.6 percent increase in October 2013.
“Consumables, such as food and liquor, accounted for most of the extra spending in November,” industry and labour statistics manager Tehseen Islam said.
Consumables rose $22 million (1.4 percent), which was the largest monthly rise for this industry since April 2012. The other retail industries had relatively small rises and falls in November.
Total retail spending (which also includes the motor vehicle-related industries) increased 0.6 percent in November 2013.
The total value of electronic card spending increased 0.2 percent in November 2013.
The trends for all the total series have generally been increasing since the series began in October 2002.
In unadjusted terms, 118 million transactions were made across all industries in November, with an average value of $53. The total amount spent across all transactions was $6.2 billion.
