Wall Street advances despite taper rumors
FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - The US stocks market opened the week with small gains as investors digested Fed official speeches about the QE cuts in the next months. Major indexes opened Monday with strong note but it tempered gains as the session was finishing.
Fed's St Louis Bullard commented that the positive trend in the labor market make cut in Fed's bond purchases more likely and the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond President Jeffrey Lacker commented that he expects a taper discussion at next week FOMC meeting.
In the same line, Fed's Dallas Fisher affirmed that the Fed should start tapering "at the earliest opportunity."
The Dow Jones advanced 5.33 points or 0.03% to finish the day at 16,025.53; the S&P 500 added 3.28 pts or 0.18% to 1,808.37; and the Nasdaq Composite won 6.23 pts or 0.15% to close the session at 4,068.75.
