Japan 20-yr yield turns positive, treasury yields drop
The yield on Japan’s 20-year government bond is back above the zero level, although treasury yields weakened on flight to safety.
In Japan, the 20-yr yield strengthened almost three basis points to 0.052%. The yield had dropped to a record low of -0.005% on Wednesday.
Across the pond, the 10-yr treasury yield shed close to two basis points to trade around 1.367%. The 30-yr yield weakened two basis points.
Bond yields in the US could rise if the US non-farm payrolls data due tomorrow shows a sharp rise in the jobs growth in June.
