Euro area needs higher growth – ECB’s B.Coeure

Benoit Coeure, member of the Executive Board of the ECB, has argued that the euro region ‘urgently’ needs higher growth in order to spur employment and lift inflation towards the target.

He has also acknowledged the impact of negative rates on bank profits.

EUR/USD remains around 1.0850/60, down from overnight tops near 1.0880.
