AUD to slightly outperform but AUD/USD seen at 0.66 by year-end - Westpac
According to Bill Evans, Chief Economist at Westpac, the AUD/USD will end the year around 0.66.
Key Quotes:
“We expect the AUD will slightly outperform other currencies vs the USD index move in 2016 ending the year at USD 0.66 (an overall depreciation of 7%) with further outperformance likely through 2017 as Australia’s terms of trade stabilise, removing a major headwind to incomes and consumer demand and encouraging expectations of an eventual rate hike by the RBA.”
“With the March Fed increase now unlikely, our call for USD 0.68 by March has been smoothed to USD 0.70.”
