Republicans to present short-term debt limit on Thursday

FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - House Republicans leaders send Obama a six-week increase debt limit plan on Thursday according House Speaker John Boehner and GOP leaders said in a recent press release. Republicans want to see what President Obama will offer their in return.

Boehner also commented that he will join a meeting with Obama later in the day about shutdown and reducing nation's deficit.

On the other said, a White House source commented WSJ that the administration would like to speak about a long-term debt ceiling increase and not only a short term one that the Republicans will propose. "It is better for economic certainty for Congress to take the threat of default off the table for as long as possible."

The House Republicans begun talks on the matter yesterday but it is not clear yet whether they will also push for adding budget cuts and other criteria to the legislation that will raise the debt ceiling.
