US stocks end lower after Lockhart liftoff comments
FXStreet (Córdoba) - US stocks slipped on Tuesday after Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta President Dennis Lockhart said the September could be the right time for rate liftoff.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 47.51 points, or 0.27%, to close at 17,550.69. The S&P 500 fell 4.72 points, or 0.22%, to 2,093.32. The Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 9.84 points, or 0.19%, to finish at 5,105.55, after being down almost 23 points.
Dennis Lockhart, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta lifted the dollar and weighed on stocks after saying that September could be “appropriate time” for the Fed’s liftoff.
