Today’s Euro group meeting on Greece called-off

FXStreet (Mumbai) - As per the latest headlines crossing the wires, the Euro group conference call scheduled for today has been called-off, although the reasons for the sudden cancellation has not been cited.

A spokesman for Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the Dutch finance minister, who chairs the Euro group, announced the conference call would not take place as planned.

However, acknowledged that in an important step, Greece has filed a proposal for financial aid under the euro zone’s bailout programme, the European Stability Mechanism.

Officials in the Euro group working group (EWG) had planned this meeting to discuss the latest ideas from Athens.

NZD/USD extends recovery beyond 0.6700

The New Zealand bounced-off five-year low and rebounded higher against the American dollar in the mid-European session, now lifting NZD/USD above 0.6700. The Kiwi stalled its ongoing slump and climbed higher capitalizing on global dollar weakness ahead of the FOMC minutes.
