Gold speculative positions rose last week

FXStreet (Mumbai) - As per the data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) showed speculator positions in rebounded modestly last week from the seven week low seen the previous week.

The non-commercial futures contracts of Comex gold futures witnessed a weekly change of 5000 contracts to total a net position of +77,440 contracts in the reporting time period - May 5th to May 12th. Weekly bullish positions rose by 6,152 contracts, while the weekly bearish positions fell by 1,152 contracts.

Meanwhile, during the reporting time period, Gold edged slightly lower from USD 1193.20/Oz to USD 1192.40/Oz.

USD/JPY in highs near 119.70

The US dollar extends its recovery mode against the Japanese yen in the early European morning, with USD/JPY testing highs at 119.76, as a sudden spike in USD buying interest was witnessed ahead of Europe open. While slowing Japan’s industrial output also weighs on the yen pushing the major higher.
