Greece might have sent the wrong letter to Eurogroup - reports
FXStreet (Córdoba) - Greece sent the wrong letter to the Eurogroup’s Head on Thursday, which led Germany to reject the loan agreement, according to MNI that cited a Germany's Bild Zeitung report.
According to the report, the intended letter said Greece will accept bailout conditions agreed to by the previous government. That draft had been prepared by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Eurogroup head Jeroen Dijsselbloem on Wednesday.
However, Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis sent an altered version of the letter and attributed it to an “administrative mistake”.
Eurozone finance ministers are currently in Brussels seeking to sign a deal for Greece. However the gathering is said to be delayed due to Greek “mistake”. Arriving to the meeting, some finance ministers noted an agreement might not be reached today.
