Greece may request a loan agreement extension - reports

FXStreet (Córdoba) - Greece may request an extension of its loan agreement for six months on Wednesday, according to media reports citing an anonymous source.

This comes after Prime Minister Tsipras and FinMin Varoufakis specifically said they will not extend the current bailout program. However, reports make a distinction between the full bailout program and the issue of the country's debts. Talks are continuing between Greece and its creditors on the conditions of such an extension.

The extension of the "loan agreement" but not the "bailout program", was part of the "splendid" draft which Greek Finance Minister Varoufakis was ready to sign but was withdrawn and replaced by the Eurogroup minutes before the meeting yesterday, prompting talks to break down.

Greek government has refused to seek for an extension of the bailout program that ends on Feb 28, rejecting austerity measures attached.
