US stocks could see early buying

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The stock markets in the US are likely to open on a positive note as the overall risk appetite in the markets remain intact. Global cues are positive with a positive performance of the Asian markets and an upward momentum in the European markets post the upbeat Eurozone GDP data.

At the time of writing, the DJIA futures traded 0.25% higher at 17,976.50 levels, while the S&P futures traded 0.21% higher at 2088.45 levels. Meanwhile, NASDAQ futures were up 0.36% at 4357.70. Russell futures were up 0.32% at 1216.70 levels respectively. The VIX futures traded 2.37% lower at 16.48 levels.

Moreover, stocks are likely to see early buying on positive corporate earnings, Ukraine ceasefire news and hopes of Greece reaching a debt deal on Monday with its international creditors.

Meanwhile, the data released today showed import prices declined less than expected in January. The University of Michigan is scheduled to release the results of its preliminary U.S. consumer sentiment survey for February later in the day. The data is likely to rise to 98.5 from the final reading of 98.1 in January. Also, Dallas Federal Reserve Bank President Richard Fisher is due to speak on '10 years at the Fed' in San Antonio.
