Ruble slips after Gazprom’s Net profit declines

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The Russian ruble fell to fresh daily lows after news crossed the wires that Russia’s Gazprom, the world's top gas producer, reported a 35% y/y drop in its net profit for nine months.

Currently, USD/RUB trades close to fresh daily highs recorded at 68.495 levels, up 1.02% on the day. The ruble reversed previous session gains and slipped after Russia's Gazprom, the world's top gas producer, reported today that its net profit for nine months stood at 556.3 billion roubles (USD 8.13 billion), down 35% year-on-year.

The ruble bounced-back against the US dollar in the previous session on news that Russian authorities outlined an USD 35bn anti-crisis plan in a bid to rescue the country from slipping into recession.
