Forex Top movers: USD/RUB rallies; USD/BRL down. Oil nothing before $36.00

FXStreet (San Francisco) - Swing day in the currency market as the dollar started the day with strong gains, but the movement was short-lived and the USD is now losing steam. The USD/RUB is rallying again, at present totaling a gain of 7.66% YTD.

The EUR/USD is falling 0.38% to 1.1780; the GBP/USD is almost unchanged around 1.5170; the USD/JPY is little own to 118.20.

Top winners on the day are: USD/RUB, +4.38% to 65.819; CAD/CHF, +0.70% to 0.8532; and USD/PLN, 0.56% to 3.6313.

To the downside, top losers are : USD/BRL, -1.27% to 2.6338; EUR/CAD, -0.70% to 1.4068; and NZD/JPY, -0.66% to 91.460.

On related markets: oil extended drop to $44.20, the lowest since March 2009; it's now at 45.54. It seems there is nothing until 2008 oil lows at the 36.00 area. USD/CAD up to 1.2000 accordingly.

US stocks are posting strong gains on Tuesday with the DJIA adding triple digit gains and Nasdaq and S&P 500 advancing over 1%. All sectors are higher; Telecommunication Services is the best performer with 1.74% gain.

NZD/USD choppy along familiar channel

NZD/USD is currently trading at 0.7730 with highs of 0.7805 and lows of 0.7712 and 0.67% on the day.
