German inflation falls to its lowest level since 2009

FXStreet (London) - German harmonised index of consumer prices-measured inflation fell to 0.1 percent in December, below the 0.5 percent print in November, declining to its lowest level since 2009 according to data released by the German Federal Statistics office.

Inflation levels fell below the consensus expectations of a decline to 0.2 percent.

The German inflation data comes ahead of the release of Eurozone composite inflation numbers to be released by Eurostat on Wednesday. Inflation printed at 0.3 percent in November and is expected to have dipped into negative territory in December.
