AUD/JPY breaks above 101.00

FXStreet (Córdoba) - AUD/JPY gained bullish momentum after NFP and broke above 101.00. The pair climbed to 101.35, reaching the strongest level since November 25.

Currently trades at 101.12, after the retreated from the highs found support above 101.00 and is consolidating daily and weekly gains. The yen was the worst performer among the most traded currencies and boosted AUD/JPY.

AUD/JPY level to watch

To the upside, immediate resistance is seen at 101.35 (daily high) and above here at 102.00 and 102.45. On the opposite direction, support might lie at 100.95 and below here at 100.65 followed by 100.20 (Dec 4 low).

USD/CAD pressing on the downside in positive territory

USD/CAD is trading at 1.1434, up 0.52% on the day, having posted a daily high at 1.1477 and low at 1.1371.

S&P downgrades Italy to BBB-, one notch above junk

Standard & Poor's downgraded Italy's sovereign rating to BBB- with a stable outlook from BBB with a negative outlook. The agency said the downgrade reflects "recurrent weaknesses in its real and nominal GDP performance, including eroded competitiveness."
