US stocks slightly higher ahead of FOMC minutes
FXStreet (Córdoba) - Equities in Wall Street were rising after a negative opening ahead of the release of the FOMC minutes of the September 16-17 meeting. European markets finished lower.
Among indexes, in the US the Dow Jones was rising 0.25% and the Nasdaq was up 0.06%. In Europe, the FTSE 100 lost 0.21%, the Dax declined 1.00% and the Cac 40 retreated 0.98%.
Among currencies, the US dollar was rising against the yen, making a strong recovery from weekly lows and it was mostly flat as traders await for the minutes. Commodity currencies were among the worst performers hit by risk aversion.
Gold reached $1,220/oz but reversed sharply and fell to $1,207/oz while crude oil was plunging more than 1.50% with the barrel trading below $87.50.
