US stocks fail to hold to gains, USD on retreat
FXStreet (Córdoba) - Stocks in the US were falling despite opening with gains while European markets finished mostly higher. The FTSE 100 rose 0.55%, the Dax gained 0.16% but the FTSE MIB declined 0.40%. In the US, the Dow Jones was falling 0.13% the Nasdaq was down 0.33% and the S&P 500 was losing 0.15%.
In the forex market, the US dollar was falling across the board, trimming part of Friday’s gains on a profit taking session. The loonie was among the best performers supported by economic data from Canada.
Gold was rising more than $15 after making a strong reversal from fresh 2014 lows at $1,182. Cruce il was algo rising, amid a weak dollar; the barrel was at $90.20 up 0.50%.
